Gary Rogers, 67, of Lake Arrowhead, died on Monday, July 2, 2012 in Wichita Falls.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel in Vernon, with Mr. Randy Echols officiating. Interment will be at Eastview Cemetery in Vernon under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Mr. Rogers was born on July 11, 1944 in Holliday to M.C. and Juanita (Wingrove) Rogers. He married Gloria Gaylene Chenault on July 10, 1964 in Vernon. He had been a long time resident of Vernon moving to Lake Arrowhead in 2006. He owned and operated Gary’s Fishing Guide Service and Fishing Tours at Lake Arrowhead and Roger’s Cheese Bait. He retired as a welder from Rhodia in 2006. He played the acoustic guitar for several blue grass bands and at town gatherings and nursing homes. He was a member of Western Trail Cowboy Church where he played the guitar and sang.
He is preceded in death by his wife Gloria Gaylene Rogers, on Aug. 3, 1999; and two brothers, Bill Rogers and Lonnie Rogers.
Survivors include a son, Billy Joe Rogers of Vernon; a daughter, Darla Gay Rogers Mitchell of Vernon; a brother, Sonny Rogers of Logan, N.M.; seven sisters, Yvonne McWhorter of Vernon; Paula Carey of Vernon, Arnelle Murphree of Wichita Falls, Penny McCulley of Denison; Laverne Whisenhunt of Athens, Verona Stokes of Vernon, and Vanoy Vincent of Baltimore, Md.; and two grandchildren.
The family will be at Sullivan Funeral Home on Thursday, July 5, from 6-8:30 p.m.
