Bluegrove Cemetery plans chapel

Dear Friends of the Bluegrove Cemetery:

The Bluegrove Cemetery Association is seeking donations for the construction of a chapel. The 30′ x 40′ nietal structure will be nestled in a grove oftrees in the southern portion of the cemetery. It will be an all-weather facility to provide a respite from the summer sun, and still allow the cool breeze to flow. In the winter, the building will be a shelter from the wind and snow.

The building will be 40 feet long from north to south and 30 feet wide from east to west. There will be a 10-by-30 feet storage area in the northern end and a 30′ x 30′ chapel area in the southern portion. Drawings of the proposed building are included with this letter. Construction will be done mostly by volunteer labor led by E. C. and Zach Crump.

Our fundraising goal is $25,000, and we would like construction to begin soon. We are grateful to those who have already given and to those who will soon give. The chapel will also serve as a place to commemorate our long history, display our historical marker, and remember the names of our dearly departed.

The Bluegrove Cemetery Association Building Fund is at the First National Bank of Byers – Henrietta Branch. To make a donation or for more information you may contact Judy Davidson – Secretary/Treasurer at 538-4111 or Travis Childs – Building Committee at (940) 895-3386. We hope the chapel will bring honor to those who have gone before and comfort to those left behind.
