Charlie gears up for two popular summer events

Two popular annual events are in the works in Charlie.

Tucker Farms will again host the Red River Farm Trail Charlie Peach Festival on Thursday, June 28, from 1-3 p.m.

The event features live music provided by John Holland and the Red River Valley Band, drawings for door prizes, kids activities and, of course, the ever popular peach cobbler and ice cream, provided by the Charlie-Thornberry ladies and Dreyer’s Ice Cream.

Barbeque sandwiches will be available for purchase from noon-2:30 p.m., and the Petrolia High School Cheerleaders will sale 2012 Peach Festival t-shirts.

Tucker Farms is located on F.M. 171 between Charlie and Thornberry. For more information, call Delores Tucker at (940) 544-2455. See map here.

On Wednesday, July 4, the Charlie Community will host its annual Fourth of July Picnic Celebration, featuring the best fireworks show in North Texas.

Festivities start at 6 p.m. at the community center with live music, a kids parade and complementary ice-cold watermelon.

Hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and cold drinks are available for purchase.

Bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket and spread out on the lawn for the fireworks show.
