Summer reading program puts the ‘magic’ in reading

Magician Gerald Edmundson urged children to read books about illusions whaler performing slide-of-hand tricks Wednesday, June 13.

“Reading is Magic” was the theme for the Edwards Public Library Texas Summer Reading program featuring Magician Gerald Edmundson on Wednesday, June 13.

Edmundson performed various slide of hand, optical illusion and mystical magic tricks.  His performance included magic hoop tricks, a rope and knot trick, cups and balls and the optical illusion of staring at a spinning disc.  The audience was impressed with his magical feats and while he performed he encouraged those in attendance to go to the Edwards Public Library and read books on magic and optical illusions.

There were 48 children and 20 adults in attendance.

The library’s next performance will be Valerie Oliver: Professional Yoyo and Spin Top Champion at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27 at the Holman Center in Henrietta.

Friday, July 6 is the last day to login reading time.  For more information on library programs, call the Edwards Public Library at (940) 538-4791.
