Indictments: Three could face life if convicted of drug charges

Three men indicted by a Clay County grand jury Monday, June 18, will face sentences of 15-99 years or life in prison if convicted and fines of as much as $250,000.

Joshua Collin Erik Gwin, Joshua Ray Hogan and Jeremy Vaughn Murray were indicted on one count each of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, in an amount of 400 grams or more, on June 26, 2011.

Murray, 35, of Wichita Falls, is in the Wichita County Jail on a separate charge of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance over 400 grams in a drug free zone and possession of marijuana. According to the Times Record News, Murray was arrested following a short car chase in Wichita Falls on March 29.

The drug cases were just a portion of the grand juries Monday docket. In all, 12 indictments were handed down.

James Michael Brand has been indicted for burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony, for a May 12 offense. Brand is accused of entering a home and taking a pair of spurs.

Michael Wayne Brooking has been indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, for an April 14 offense. Brooking is accused of pointing a firearm at a woman with intent to cause harm.

Douglas Olsen Bryan has been indicted for driving while intoxicated, third or more offense, a third-degree felony, for a Feb. 1 offense. Bryan was convicted of driving while intoxicated on May 30, 1997, and again on Aug. 22, 2001. Both convictions were in Oklahoma County, Okla.

Shelvie Darnell Cleaver has been indicted on two counts stemming from a Feb. 13 arrest. Cleaver was indicted for possession of marijuana, more than 5 pounds, less than 50 pounds; and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. Both are third-degree felonies.

Clinton Jerome Cooley has been indicted for possession of marijuana, more than 4 ounces, less than 5 pounds, a state jail felony, for a Feb. 4 offense.

Larry Gene Hawkins has been indicted for possession and transport of chemicals with intent to manufacture a controlled substance, penalty group one, a second-degree felony, for a Jan 20 offense. Hawkins is accused of being in possession of pseudoephedrine for the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Steven Wayne Medley has been indicted for assault of a family member, a third degree felony, for an April 22 offense. Medley is accused of choking a family member.

Anthony Scott Taptto has been indicted for driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age, a state jail felony, for a Feb. 25 offense.
