Students who have qualified for The Sound of America membership are responsible for all costs involved with the trip. Frequently, however, local businesses and civic clubs who have an interest in helping deserving students will offer some financial sponsorship to the student representing their community. Contributions may be made to Justin through accounts in his name at either Herring National Bank in Wichita Falls or Legend Bank in Henrietta.

Justin, a member of the HHS Band, has been a percussionist since fifth grade. He has earned membership into the All-District Band and the All-Region Band multiple times. He has also made it to state competitions in Percussion Ensembles and as a Percussion Soloist.

He will join other select student musicians chosen from applicants representing nearly every state when The Sound of America Honor Band and Chorus begins its 2012 European Concert Tour in July. Each applicant to this highly competitive performing organization has been carefully chosen so that only those students who display excellent character and outstanding musical ability are accepted for membership.

Students will embark on a 23-day concert tour and experience the cultures of six countries: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France and Luxembourg. They will be performing in some of the finest concert halls and major cathedrals in cities like Paris, Venice, Salzburg, Stresa, Verona, Rothenburg, Grindelwald, Luxembourg, and La Chaux-de-Fonds.

The Sound of America Honor Band and Chorus, celebrating its 36th year in 2012 is recognized as one of the finest and most successful European Concert Tour programs in existence. It has received international acclaim for its exemplary success in achieving outstanding cultural relationships with European countries. The Sound of America has been the recipient of letters of commendation from former U.S. Presidents George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Justin is the son of Kristi Caldwell and the late Christopher Caldwell of Henrietta, and the grandson of Edward E. Vaden and the late Georgia Vaden of Wichita Falls, and Diane Waldo of Quanah.
