Five indicted by May grand jury


A Clay County grand jury handed down five indictments Monday, May 21. Three indictments were sealed.

George Michael McGowan has been indicted for deadly conduct, discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony, for a March 17 offense. McGowan is accused of firing a gun at or in the direction of a person.

James Allen Simmons has been indicted for driving while intoxicated, third offense or more, a third-degree felony, for a Jan. 29 offense. Simmons was convicted of driving while intoxicated in Wichita County on Sept. 14, 1993, and in Clay County on May 21, 2002.
