A Henrietta man died in a boating accident Thursday morning at Waurika Lake in Oklahoma.
Gary Dale Moore, Sr., 54, was operating a 14-foot aluminum boat with an eight horsepower outboard motor when he and a passenger, Daniel Enox, 73, of Henrietta, fell into the water. According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, the two men were setting out jug lines at 10:34 a.m. when the passenger stood up in the boat, causing the vessel to become unstable. Both men fell into the water.
The boat circled the two men, striking Enox one time, the report stated. Moore did not resurface. A fisherman who witnessed the accident pulled Enox from the water, and took the passenger and boat to the shoreline. Moore’s body was discovered 200 yards from the shore in approximately 10 feet of water at 4:30 p.m.
Waurika Lake is located in Jefferson County, Okla.
