Members compete in roundup, horse quiz, consumer decisions


Competing in the District 3 4-H Roundup were Holt Chambers, Katy Hand, Kasey Taylor, Kalico Burkes, Korri Franke and Daniel Wimberley; back row left to right: Taylor Watson, Ethan Franke, Conner Chambers, Marty Hand, Mikayla Graham, Josey Cleveland, Skee Burkes, Jacobi Reynolds and Katlyn Lang.

2012 District 4-H Roundup, Horse Quiz Bowl and Consumer Decision Making contests were held Wednesday, May 2, in Vernon. Clay County 4-H had 15 members competing.


In the junior division, Holt Chambers placed first in beef educational demonstration.

Intermediates Mikayla Graham placed first in public speaking, Jacobi Reynolds placed third in public speaking and Conner Chambers placed third in beef educational demonstration.

Seniors Skee Burkes placed third in the Share the Fun talent show solo or band category and Kasey Taylor placed third in the vocal category. Skee was asked to perform his presentation during the awards ceremony.

Horse Quiz Bowl

The junior and intermediate team of Ethan Franke, Mikayla Graham, Marty Hand and Daniel Wimberley placed second. The team of Kalico Burkes, Katy Hand and Katlyn Lang also competed. The senior team of Skee Burkes, Josey Cleveland, Taylor Watson and Kasey Taylor placed second.   The senior team of Burkes, Cleveland, Watson and Taylor will compete at the 4-H State Roundup held at Texas Tech in Lubbock in June.

Also competing in the Consumer Decision Making contest were Korri Franke, Ethan Franke and Jacobi Reynolds.
