Bellevue student fire prevention poster advances to state

Caedmon Meeks of Bowie earned first place in the Bellevue VFD Fire Prevention Poster contest, and advanced to state.

Caedmon Meeks of Bowie won first place in her age group in the Bellevue Volunteer Fire Department’s fire prevention poster contest.

With the first place ribbon, she advanced to the Red River District of the State Firemen and Fire Marshall Association, where she also took first place. Caedmon advanced to the state-wide competition and her art work will be displayed at the State Firemen and Fire Marshall Association Convention in June.

Caedmon is the 9-year-old daughter of John and Cindy Meeks of Bowie, and was a third grader at Bellevue Elementary School at the time of the competition.

Other first place awards for local classes will be presented at the Bellevue School awards program.

“We are very proud and pleased to that we had so many entries and that we had such a good showing,” said Bellevue VFD Chief Mark Hanson. “ Thank you the teachers for supporting the Bellevue VFD fire prevention program.”
