Bearcat season ends with bidistrict loss to Godley


Henrietta baseball scored two runs in the sixth inning of Thursday night’s bidistrict playoff game, falling short of a rally against Godley, 5-3.

The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, before being shut out by Godley in the second, third fourth and fifth, despite scattering five hits. Henrietta took advantage of two Godley errors.

Korben Allen hit a triple, batting in one Henrietta. Joe Dell Williams and Ben Fletcher also had one RBI each.

Godley scored three runs in the third inning and two in the fourth. Henrietta committed six errors.

Allen took the loss on the mound. In seven innings, he faced 33 batters for eight strikeouts, throwing 99 pitches for 59 strikes.

Henrietta ends the 2012 season with a 16-11—2 record, including two wins over rival Holliday. The Bearcats earned their first playoff berth in years.
