Lady Pirates sweep AC on doubles from Anderson, Cummings


Petrolia’s Lady Pirates took two wins over Archer City on Friday to sweep the three-game bidistrict series and advance to Region I Area competition.

The Lady Pirates defeated Archer City 1-0 in game one, then blasted the Lady ‘Cats 11-1 in game two.

Scoreless through six innings, Petrolia’s Jamie Kowalick batted-in Sidney Mobley in the seventh for the lone run. Kowalick finished with two hits on four at-bats.

Petrolia pitcher Katie Cummings earned both wins. She struck out 14 batters in the first game.

With doubles from Cummings and Alaina Anderson, Petrolia scored seven runs in the fifth inning to put game two out of Archer City’s reach. The Lady Pirates scored two in the second and one run in the third. Their 11th run of the game came in the seventh inning.

Kowalick and Abbie Anderson went 3-for-5 in game two.
