Bearcats earn postseason berth on Holliday whif

Bi-district game against Godley changed to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Denton High School

Just when Henrietta baseball fans thought the Bearcats season might be over, Holliday whiffed it’s last opportunity for a playoff berth Monday night, pushing Henrietta into postseason play.

Holliday fell to Ponder 3-1, marking the Eagles first season since 1997 to miss the post season. The loss put Henrietta and Holliday in a tie for third place with district records of 7-5.

Henrietta swept the Eagles in District 9-2A play with a 19-8 win in Holliday March 24 and a 5-2 win at home April 17.

The Bearcats enter the postseason for the first time in five years. Henrietta will face Godley in a one-game bi-district playoff at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 3. The game will be played at Denton High School. Henrietta will be the visiting team. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for students. District passes will be accepted.
