Volunteer luncheon a success

By Ashley Crownover

Henrietta Care Center had our annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on Friday, April 20. We are so blessed to have such an awesome group of people that selflessly devote their time to our residents. We had a large number of people show up to our appreciation luncheon. It was a blast, and it was wonderful to have all the volunteers together as a group. Thank you to everyone who came out for our event. We want to take a minute to individually thank each of our volunteers that we cherish dearly.

Nona Byrd is a piano player. She entertains the residents at our monthly birthday party. Kathy Steele, Sue Oxford, Cindy Durham, Melvina Fernandez, Donna Gee, Loretta Klein, Doris Durham and Donna Speidel are part of the Women’s Mission Group at the Cowboy Church, and they come out and call Bingo for us two times a week. Betty Jacobson helps with various parties and special events. Alice McEntee volunteers weekly. She brings donuts and visits the residents on a one-on-one basis. Sarah Sears, Jane McRay, and Linda Strickland volunteer on Wednesdays. They polish nails and have group talks with the residents. They also come on Friday afternoons to lead a devotional class. Rita Kelton, Jenny Kelton, Odel Kelton, and Freida Gilstrap come out every Sunday to represent the Church of God and conduct Sunday school. Phyllis Polvado and Linda Rhoades come out and host our monthly birthday parties each month. Linda Henderson works in the laundry here. She also makes door decorations, repairs residents clothes as needed in her time off of work. She also visits residents on a one-on-one basis and leads group activities on her own time.

To those who could not make it to our luncheon, we missed you. We are so happy to have such wonderful volunteers. We love all that you do and could not operate the same without the help each of you give us. Our residents are our life and the community has been very giving. What an awesome place to live! Thank you for adding so much joy to the lives of the residents at Henrietta Care Center. God bless you all.

We are always accepting new volunteers, so if you are interested, please contact Vickie Whitehead at (940) 538-4303. We are looking for someone to help us create scrapbooks. If you are able to assist us, please stop by and let us know.

It is time to vote for Henrietta Care Center’s Employee of the Year and Care Provider of the Year. Residents, family members, volunteers, and staff members are eligible to vote. Family members will be mailed voting forms. Please stop by HCC and get a form from us if you wish to vote and do not receive a form. Every vote counts! Votes are based on work ethics, overall attitude, dedication, customer service, community relations, etc. Votes must be returned by mail or placed in the locked suggestion box at the nurses’ station by May 1!

Our monthly birthday party is scheduled for Friday the 27th at 3 p.m. Feel free to join us if you can. We would be glad to have you.

Have a wonderful week!
