A popular addition to Turkey Fest three years ago, the chili cookoff once again saw a large turnout of cooks. Participants lined the west side of the courthouse square Saturday.
Bob Alexander and Lloyd Duncan of Henrietta won the People’s Choice Award for best tasting chili, while Barry Thompson of Wichita Falls won the best “coop” award, given to the participant who put the most effort into decorating his booth.
Chili chefs from Wichita Falls dominated the CASI sanctioned competition, earning points toward the Terlingua International Chili Championship.
John Reese, Sr. too first place, followed by Wanda Reese in second place and Ray Charboneau in third.
In the Turkey Chili division, Bob Wuthrich of Henrietta and the Spray Green of North Texas team took first place, followed by Barry Thompson of Wichita Falls in second and Kevin Wooster of Wichita Falls in third place.
No fire departments entered this year’s event.
