Bearcats end playoff hopes with loss to Alvord

With 12 runs in the fourth inning, Alvord run-ruled Henrietta Friday night, 17-3, ending the Bearcats playoff hopes.

The Bearcats finished the season with a 16-10-2 record, and at 6-5 in district.

Alvord took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, but the Bearcats evened the score with a run in the top of the third. Alvord scored four in the bottom of the inning. Henrietta added two runs in the fourth, before the Bulldog bats got hot.

The Bearcats had five hits to Alvord’s 16. Henrietta committed five errors.

Henrietta worked through its rotation, putting three pitchers on the mound. Ben Fletcher took the loss. In three innings, Fletcher faced 21 batters for four strikeouts.  Joe Dell Williams faced eight batters for two strikeouts. Zach Byers closed for the Bearcats, facing seven batters.

Philip Davis hit a homerun and finished with two RBI. Conner Fletcher doubled for one RBI.
