Clay County business places third in competition for entrepreneurs


The Taxidermists’ Woodshop, a business owned by Jacob Morath of Thornberry, was awarded third place from a list of seven finalists in the IdeaWF business competition on Thursday, April 19. 
First place was awarded to Midwest Waste Management; second place was won by NET Audio.

IdeaWF offers monetary and in-kind awards to entrepreneurs in Clay, Wichita and Archer counties. Morath was one of seven finalists competing for the first place prize of $35,000 in cash and in-kind services. Cash and prizes were also awarded to the second and third place winners.

The Taxidermists’ Woodshop, manufactures wood products for the taxidermy industry.  He began operations in October 2009 and makes the products at his manufacturing site. He sells his products exclusively on-line to taxidermists. He has local, national and international customers who order his products through his website, www.taxidermistwoodshop.com.

Morath plans to expand The Taxidermists’ Woodshop and would use his contest winnings to fund a move to a larger facility to meet his growing production needs.
