Ralph Coburn, Jr. of Petrolia


Ralph Coburn, Jr., died Saturday, February 11, 2012, from complications of diabetes and liver cancer.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Petrolia. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mr. Coburn was born on Sept. 29, 1943 in Wichita Falls to Tammie (Burrus) and Ralph Coburn, Sr. He attended elementary school in Shamrock and later Wellington, Texas where he completed junior high school and high school. He served in the Texas National Guard and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 1968. After college he began a career in computer programming in Dallas, Texas at Southland Life Insurance Company, and remained with the same company through four acquisitions retiring from Computer Sciences Corporation in 2010. He is a third-generation Clay County rancher.

He is survived by his companion of 17 years, Nancy Andrews of Austin; a sister, Carolyn Holmberg and husband Bill of Petrolia; and many nieces and nephews.
