Commissioners finish in record time

With nothing but the most basic of items on the agenda, Clay County Commissioners made record time Monday morning.

In the absence of Judge Kenneth Liggett, Precinct 1 Commissioner Lindy Choate noted that the Henrietta and Clay County Chamber of Commerce asked to use tents on the courthouse lawn during Turkey Fest activities Saturday, April 21. He also said Democratic Party Chairperson Joan Schaffner will use the county courtroom for training of elections officials.

The county appraisal district reported that 95.6 percent of all property taxes for 2011 have been collected, a figure that is a little off last year’s collection rate.

Commissioners approved payment of all bill relating to Clay County Memorial Hospital, and took no action toward a burn ban. There were no line item or budget amendments.
