Bearcats give up lead, fall to Krum in extra inning


Henrietta gave up a two-run lead in the seventh inning Monday night, forcing an extra inning and allowing Krum the 5-4 win.

Korben Allen takes the loss on the mound, but not before giving a strong performance in eight innings of work. Allen faced 35 batters for six strikeouts. In 113 pitches, he threw 82 strikes. Henrietta fielded four groundouts and 14 flies, and committed one error.

Down 2-0 after three innings, Henrietta tied the game with two runs in the fourth, and added two in the fifth for a 4-2 lead. Krum scored one in the fifth.

Allen hit a triple for the Bearcats, and Philip Davis doubled. Ben Fletcher, Nick Powell and Aaron Whitehead finished the night with one RBI each. Zach Byers, Conner Fletcher and Ben Fletcher had one stolen base each. The Bearcats totaled 10 hits.

Krum was more efficient at the plate, scattering eight hits.

The Bearcats travel to City View on Friday. Game time is 5 p.m.
