Allen hits, pitches Bearcats to rain delayed win over Nocona

Henrietta baseball was set to host Nocona before Monday’s heavy rains. The two teams met Wednesday on Ponder’s artificial turf, and the Bearcats came away with an 8-4 win.

Korben Allen pitched Henrietta to the win with seven strikeouts in seven innings of work. He faced 33 batters, throwing 110 pitches for 75 strikes. Nocona claimed six hits. Henrietta committed four errors.

Nocona two runs in the fifth and two in the seventh, not enough to spark a rally. By the time the Indians got on the scoreboard, Henrietta held a 6-0 lead, scoring two in the first, two in the third and two in the fourth. The Bearcats added two more runs in the sixth inning.

Allen led the Bearcats in the batter’s box with three RBI’s on three hits. Joe Dell Williams finished with two RBI’s, while Conner Fletcher, Ben Fletcher and Coty McKelvey had one RBI each. Allen, Williams and McKelvey hit doubles. Henrietta eight runs came on 13 hits. Nocona committed two errors.

Henrietta (13-8-2) travels to Ponder again on Friday to face the Lions in district play.
