Henrietta had no problems getting on base at Burkburnett Saturday, racking up eight hits for a 3-2 win over the Bulldogs.
Two of the Bearcats three runs came on RBI’s from Zach Byers and Korben Allen; Joe Dell Williams doubled, and was hit by a pitch. A pitch also hit conner Fletcher.
With runs in the first and second innings, the Bearcats held a 2-0 lead until the fourth when Burkburnett put two runs on the board. The Bearcats broke the tie with a sixth inning run. Burkburnett finished with four hits. Henrietta committed one error.
Byers earned the win on the mound with three innings of work. Byers faced 15 pitchers for two strikeouts. Allen relieved Byers to earn five strikeouts against seven pitchers. Joe Dell Williams closed for the Bearcats, facing eight batters and earning a save. Byers threw 27 strikes on 54 pitches; Allen had a 20-29 strike-to-pitch ratio; and Williams threw 19 strikes on 26 pitches.
Tuesday, April 3, Henrietta hosts Nocona at 6 p.m. The Bearcats travel to Ponder for a 7 p.m. start Thursday, April 5.
