Billy Joe Baxter of Wichita Falls


Billy Joe “B.J.” Baxter, 69, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., on Monday, April 2 at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Henrietta, with Rev. Jon Curry, pastor at the Assembly of God Church of Byers, officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mr. Baxter was born on April 23, 1942 in Wynnewood, Okla., to Zeb and Dorothy (Blevins) Baxter. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War where he was awarded three Bronze Stars. He married Esta “Sissie” White on Dec. 31, 1997 in Waurika, Okla. He was a retired engineer with Burlington Northern Railroad Company and liked to cowboy, fish and hunt.

He is preceded in death by his wife Esta “Sissie” (White) Baxter.

Survivors include seven daughters, Becky Mataska and husband Gary of Wichita Falls, Emily Marable and husband Tom of Hardy, Ark., Dayna Robinett and husband Larry of Wichita Falls, Angie Daugherty and husband Bill of Wichita Falls, Shonda Cleveland and husband Marcus of Wichita Falls, Joy Inglish of Wichita Falls, and Jessica Voss of Wichita Falls; one brother, Glenn Baxter and wife Rita of Wichita Falls; 16 grandchildren; and four Great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Davis Funeral Home on Sunday evening, April 1 from 6-7 p.m.
