Spurred by a home run and six RBI’s from Bearcat Ben Fletcher, Henrietta scored multiple runs in all but two innings to earn a 19-8 win over Holliday on Saturday.
Henrietta scored three runs in the second and three in the third inning, and put the game out of reach with a seven run fifth inning. The Bearcats went on to score four more in the sixth and two runs in the seventh inning. Holliday scored two runs in the fourth inning and six runs in the fifth.
Zach Byers led the Henrietta lineup with five of the Bearcats’ 19 hits for four RBI’s. Conner Fletcher added three hits for three RBI’s. Byers and Nick Powell finished with a double apiece. Philip Davis had two RBI’s, while Joe Dell Williams and Korben Allen posted one RBI each.
Wild pitches cost both Holliday and Henrietta. Coty McKelvey advanced to first base twice when hit by pitches. Davis and Powell were hit one time each. Aaron Whitehead was walked twice. On the mound for Henrietta, Allen hit six batters.
Allen pitched 4.1 innings to earn the win, facing 30 batters for six strikeouts. Allen threw 113 pitches for 68 strikes. Byers faced three batters and Ben Fletcher closed with seven batters faced. Fletcher had three strikeouts.
With the win, Henrietta improves to 11-7-2 for the season, and 3-2 in District 9-2A.
