Burch 11th in THSPA women’s state powerlifting meet

Lady Cat Taylor Burch placed 11th in the Texas High School Powerlifting Association Women’s State Meet, held Friday, March 16, in Corpus Christi.

Competing in the 114-pound weight class, Burch finished with a total lift weight of 585 pounds. She lifted 245 pounds in her best squat attempt, 95 pounds on the bench press and completed 245 pounds in dead lift.

Burch qualified for the state competition on a first place win at regional competition in Leonard on Feb. 24. At state competition, she beat her regional total of 570 by 15 pounds, adding 10 in squat and 5 pounds in dead lift.

Katrina Nittmo of Winnsboro won the state title in Burch’s weight class with a total weight of 705 pounds.

Bearcats J.D. Franke and Joseph Costa will travel to Abilene Saturday for the men’s state meet.
