Byers Women hold bake sale

Byers Women’s Club met at 8 a.m. Friday, March 16, at the Byers Community Center for a short meeting and its annual bake sale. Many delicious pies, cakes, cookies, and candies were available. Proceeds will fund the club’s community projects.
President Tena Van Deventer called the meeting to order followed by the prayer and pledge of allegiance led by Kathy Westmoreland, who also read the minutes of the February meeting. In old business, members were reminded to begin gathering items for a gift basket to be raffled at June Fest. In new business, members voted to make a donation to the Byers Bike Bash to be held May 12.
In attendance were Jonnie Barnhill, Allene Schaffner, Pat Lawrence, Tena Van Deventer, Carol Hale, Wanda Jean Elrod, Kathy Westmoreland, Peggy Holderness, and Judy Wade.
At the next meeting at 2 p.m. on April 10, members will elect officers for the coming year and collect greeting cards for the children at St. Jude’s Hospital.
