Henrietta baseball earned two wins over Boyd in Saturday’s double-header. In game one, the Bearcats took the Yellowjackets to the seventh inning for a 4-3 win, and came out strong in game two for a 9-6 final.
Joe Dell Williams earned the win in game one with six innings of work. Williams faced 27 batters for nine strikeouts and a walk. Williams threw 56 strikes on 87 pitches. Zach Byers relieved Williams in the seventh, facing five batters, and threw 12 strikes on 17 pitches.
Henrietta made the most of four hits with RBI’s from Byers, Williams and Korben Allen. Boyd had seven hits to produce three runs. Henrietta and Boyd committed three errors each.
Henrietta scored two runs in the first inning, and one in the fifth and one in the seventh inning to hold Boyd off. The Yellowjackets scored their first runs in the sixth and added one run in the seventh.
The Bearcats came out in game two to score five runs in the first inning and one in the second inning. But Boyd fired back in the second, with five runs. Henrietta added three more in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach. Boyd added a run in the sixth.
The Bearcats finished with ten hits, including a double from Aaron Whitehead for an RBI. Matthew Mitchell and Caden Robinson finished with two RBI’s each.
Whitehead earned the win on the mound, facing 13 batters. Robinson faced 13 batters in three innings for 10 strikeouts. Byers relieved Robinson in the sixth, facing two batters.
Henrietta (9-7-2) hosts district rival City View Tuesday at 6 p.m.
