Krum uses big batting to clobber Bearcats

Krum run-ruled Henrietta Friday night, 16-0, handing the Bearcats their second district loss of the season.

The Bobcats earned a two-run lead in the first inning, and scored the bulk of their runs in the second and third innings. Six runners crossed home plate in the second inning, and seven scored in the third. Krum added one run in the fourth.

Krum had 13 hits and committed one error.

The Bobcats finished with three doubles, a triple and a homerun for 14 RBI’s.

Henrietta put two hits on the board in the top of the second inning when Philip Davis singled to left field and Nick Powell singled to second base, advancing Davis.

Earning the win on the mound, Krum’s Ty Damron struck out 13 in five innings.

Henrietta reached deep into its rotation. Ben Fletcher took the loss, facing 11 batters. Davis stepped onto the mound in the second inning to face 15 batters. Parker Kleinert relieved Davis in the fourth to face five batters.

The Bearcats travel to Boyd Saturday for a non-district double header. Games are scheduled for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. On Tuesday, Henrietta returns to district play, hosting City View at 6 p.m.
