St. Patty’s Day, Barbie contest on tap

By Ashley Crownover

Henrietta Care Center would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Church of God for coming to HCC for several years to provide music and Sunday school for the residents. Your weekly devotion is greatly appreciated by all. Thank you for your continued support.

We have five residents celebrating their birthday this month. Happy birthday to Leonard Raney who celebrated on the 3rd. Harell Edwards will be celebrating his birthday on the 11th followed by Maggie Bowman the 21st, and Robert Bell and Velma Ashton on the 29th. Friday, March 30 at 3 p.m., we will have a special birthday celebration to honor these five residents. Feel free to send a card to any of the residents for their birthday or to stop by Henrietta Care Center to say hello and help brighten their day.

We are getting ready for our monthly potluck meal at HCC. This meal is scheduled for Friday, March 9, at noon. This month, our theme will be A Taste of Ireland in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Our menu will include sauerkraut, sausage, green jell-o salad and pistachio pudding. Any guest that comes to the potluck meal can enter for a chance to win a door prize. If you are a senior citizen who is homebound and not part of the Meals on Wheels program, please call us at (940) 538-4303 if you would like a plate the day of the potluck. We will gladly deliver the meal to you. We will be accepting phone orders until 5 p.m. Thursday the 8th. For the rest of the community, we invite you to drop by and have lunch with us. All you have to do is show up empty-handed, and it will be our pleasure to serve you. This monthly meal is one way for us to show our appreciation for everything our community does for us.

Friday the 9th, we will also celebrate National Barbie Day. If anyone has any Barbies, please bring them out for our Barbie display. It would be great for you to come out at noon to display your Barbies and to enjoy our potluck meal. You can also bring Barbies at an earlier date if that is easier for you, and we will hold them until time to display them on Friday. There will be judges, and the people with winning Barbies will receive a prize. Awards will include Best in Show, Most Unusual, Oldest, and Best Dressed. Our residents really enjoy this annual celebration, and we greatly look forward to seeing many different kinds of Barbies that people have collected over the years.

Alice McEntee has started volunteering. She is starting her own group activity, and she will be reading to a group of residents and playing cards and other games that the residents request. Thank you Alice for coming by and having fun with the residents. We love having you here.

The Cowboy Church has added us to their Mission Outreach Program in our community, and we are very glad to be even more involved in their schedule. The time that their volunteers dedicate to us is greatly appreciated.

Henrietta Care Center is a fantastic place to live as well as a wonderful place to work. We would love for you to experience this first-hand by stopping by for a visit. We got new brochures a few months ago and we also print extra calendars each month, so be sure to grab a calendar and a brochure to take with you. We offer many services that numerous people are not aware of, and we have a list of these services in our brochure. These include respite care and wonderful therapy as well as pets being welcome in our facility and free wireless internet. You can also find our services and other useful information on our website. We will gladly answer any questions you may have, and we are certain you will be pleased with our facility.

Have a great week.
