Byers pitches no-hitter to lead ‘Cats over Glen Rose


Zach Byers pitched a no-hitter Thursday morning, helping Henrietta to a 16-0 win over Glen Rose in the opening round of the Jacksboro baseball tournament.

The Bearcats continue tournament play against Petrolia on Friday at 3 p.m.

Byers pitched five innings for the Bearcats, totaling 42 strikes on 78 pitches with two groundouts and a fly. He faced 18 batters.

Henrietta tallied 12 hits, scoring four runs in the first, two in the third, three in the fourth and seven runs in the fifth inning. Glen Rose committed six errors.

Joe Dell Williams, Ben Fletcher and Parker Dunkerley hit doubles. Ben Fletcher and Korben Allen finished with three RBI’s each, while Dunkerley and Conner Fletcher had two each. Philip Davis, Williams, Cole Hollar and Nick Powell had one RBI each.
