Nursing home among the 120 best in Texas

Emma Jewell Lyde and J.W. Barker were named Valentine's Queen and King at Henrietta Care Center Feb. 14.

By Ashley Crownover

Henrietta Care Center is beyond pleased to announce that we were named one of the top 120 nursing homes in Texas by U.S.News & World Report. This is such an honor, and we are all ecstatic to be a part of this list. We received an overall rating of 5 stars. This makes all of our dedication to having a homelike and pleasant facility worthwhile. Henrietta Care Center is truly home to our residents rather than just a building. We are grateful for all the hard-work of our staff. We also could not be such a great place without help from our community. Thank you to our staff and community for your ongoing support.

Last week was very busy at Henrietta Care Center. The Valentine’s Day party was a lot of fun. Congratulations to Emma Jewell Lyde and J.W. Barker on being crowned our king and queen. They were voted on by their peers and HCC staff as well as family members and other visitors.

Our queen, Emma Jewell, has been a resident at HCC since October 2010. She has become a wonderful friend to everyone here. She enjoys helping out as much as much as she can. She helps out prior to meals by making sure all the tables are set and everything in the dining room looks superb. She likes conversing with her peers and anyone else who wants to chat. She works word search puzzles daily, plays bingo two to three times a week, and enjoys special events at HCC such as parties. Emma has frequent visits from family members. She is a true blessing to our facility, and we love that she calls HCC home.

Our king, J.W., has also been a resident since October 2010. He also is liked by all. He keeps himself very busy with his computer, listening to music, reading his Bible, and getting mail. He enjoys playing dominoes, bingo, and participating in our special events. Speaking of his enjoyment of dominoes, if anyone in the community is interested in coming out for a game or two, J.W. would appreciate it.

Our resident birthday party is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. We would love for you to stop by and help us celebrate. We have five residents that will be celebrating another year of life. These residents are General Houston, Lillian Wines, Sadie Davis, Vera King and Grace Estridge.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest employee, Johnnie Pickle. She was hired this month as Henrietta Care Center’s Food Service Supervisor. She was born and raised in Henrietta, and she is a true and loyal person that will offer HCC residents well-balanced and delicious meals. We are very proud to have her on our team.

HCC is a wonderful place to live and work. With the help of our community, we keep an upbeat atmosphere and a building full of smiling faces and cheerful moods. We would like to remind you that visitors are welcome to come by and visit. We love giving tours of the facility and seeing new faces, so please come by and see us.
