Lady Cat Taylor Burch and Bearcats J.D. Franke and Joseph Costa held on as top ranked lifters in Region 6 of the Texas High School Powerlifting Association with big performances Saturday at the Mean Green Powerlifting Meet in Iowa Park.
Competing in the 114-pound weight class, Burch finished with a total lift weight of 570 pounds. Burch squatted 245, bench pressed 95 and had a dead lift of 230 pounds.
In the same class, J.J. Ramos took third place with 470 pounds. Ramos squatted 200 pounds, benched 95 and had a dead lift of 175.
Mackenzie White took third place in her weight class with a total lift weight of 665 pounds. The freshman lifted 245 pounds in the squat, 145 on the bench press and 275 in the dead lift.
Sara Mayes placed 10th in the 148-pound weight class, lifting a total of 395 pounds. Mayes finished the squat with 155 pounds, the bench press with 65 and the dead lift with 175. Brooke Hoff also competed in the class.
The Lady Cats finished sixth in the team standings.
Joseph Costa won the 242-pound weight class with a total loft of 1,350 pounds. Costa picked up 555 pounds in the squat, 345 on the bench press and 450 in the dead lift competition.
In the 132-pound class, Franke come out on top with a total lift of 1,125 pounds. Franke squatted 455 pounds; bench pressed 245 and dead lifted 425 pounds.
Christian Farr, also competed in the 132-pound class, squatted 265, benched 215 and dead lifted 385 pounds for a total lift weight of 865 pounds – and eighth place. Farr is ranked third in the region.
John Brock and Parker West competed in the 275-pound weight class. Brock finished in third pace with a total lift of 1,280 pounds. Brock squatted 580 pounds; bench pressed 315 and dead lifted 385 pounds. West, finishing in fourth pace, squatted 535 pounds, benched 335 and dead lifted 405 for a total lift weight of 1,275.
