A wreck involving three vehicles on Hwy. 79 in Dean Friday sent three people to a Wichita Falls hospital.

Mary Sue Wilson, 58, and daughter Ethana Valadez, 17, both of Byers, where transported by ambulance. Kevin Helm, 20, of Petrolia, was taken be private vehicle.

Angel Valdez, 35, of Dean, and three juvenile passengers refused treatment, said DPS Trooper Chad Harden.

Valdez was driving a 2003 Nissan Altima east on Hwy. 79, preparing to turn left onto Lura Maie Road in Dean when the car was struck from behind by 2005 Chevy Cobalt driven by Helm.

The impact caused the rear portion of Helm’s vehicle to slide around into oncoming traffic, said Harden. As the car spun around, it struck the driver’s side door of a westbound 2005 Mitsubishi Raider pickup driven by Wilson, causing Wilson to lose control of the vehicle.

Wilson’s pickup crossed the eastbound lane, struck a tree, and came to a rest in a creek bottom at the intersection of Hwy. 79 and Tammen Road.

The accident was reported at about 4:15 p.m. Traffic on Hwy. 79 was limited to a single lane for more than an hour as the roadway was cleared.
