Bearcats Christian Farr and Joseph Costa, and Lady Cat Taylor Burch dominated the competition in their respective weight classes at the Nocona Invitational Powerlifting Meet on Saturday.
The Bearcats finished second in the team standings with 22 points, behind City View and ahead of Graham. Thirteen schools competed.
Farr’s title came in the 132-pound weight class, finishing with a total lift weight of 950 pounds. Farr squatted 350 pounds; bench pressed 215 pounds and raised 385 in the dead lift.
Costa competed in the 242-pound class, lifting a total of 1,300 pounds. Costa finished with 550 pounds in the squat, 315 on the bench press and 435 in dead lift.
Costa and Farr are regionally ranked first and third, respectively, in their weight classes.
John Brock took second place for Henrietta in the 275-pound weight class, neck-and-neck with teammate Parker West in third. Brock squatted 520 pounds; bench pressed 315 and raised 400 in the dead lift for a total of 1,235 pounds. West squatted 500, benched 335 and dead lifted 400 for a total of 1,235.
Patrick Riordan finished ninth in the 181-pound weight class with a total lift of 885 pounds. Riordan squatted 325, benched 185 and dead lifted 375 pounds.
Grady West finished 11th in the 165-pound class with a total of 640 pounds. Grady West squatted 245, benched 150 and brought up 245 pounds in dead lift.
On the girls’ side, Henrietta placed fifth as a team. Decatur placed first, followed by Vernon, City View and Bowie.
Competing in the 114-pound weight class, Burch combined a 250-pound squat, 100-pound bench press and 235-pound dead lift for a total weight of 585. In the same class, J.J. Ramos took fifth with lifts of 200 in squat, 95 on the bench and 190 in dead lift, for a total weight of 485.
Burch is ranked third in the region.
Mackenzie White finished second in her weight class with a total weight of 625 pounds. White squatted 230 pounds, benched 145 and lifted 250 pounds in the dead lift.
Brooke Hoff placed fourth in the 148-pound weight class with a squat of 200, a bench of 120 and a dead lift of 220 for a total weight of 540.
Sarah Mayes, competing in the 132-pound class, finished ninth with a squat of 155 pounds, a bench press of 70 and a dead lift of 185 for a total 410 pounds.
