Ponder’s Clay Morgan dashed any hopes Henrietta’s varsity boys had of taking away the Lions’ one-point halftime lead Friday, leading his team of a 55-35 win over the Bearcats.
Morgan scored 13 of Ponder’s 26 points in the third quarter. Henrietta was held to seven.
The Lions took an early 11-8 lead over the Bearcats, but Henrietta bounced back in the fourth, outscoring Ponder 12-10. Ponder led 21-20 at halftime.
Ponder outgunned the Bearcats again in the fourth, 10-8.
Nick Powell led Henrietta with 21 points, including three-pointers in the second and third quarters. Dalton Davidson followed with six points, hitting shots from outside the three-point arc in the first and fourth quarters. Cole Burns scored three points, while Myles Marchman and Ben Fletcher added two points each. Kolten Booher scored one free throw.
The Bearcats scored six free throws on 10 attempts. Ponder hit 13 free throws on 22 attempts.

Henrietta’s JV squad took a 10-0 lead over Ponder in the first quarter, but fell by two in overtime, 41-39.
