Holliday too much for varsity ‘Cats


Holliday took an overwhelming win over Henrietta’s varsity Bearcats in District 9-2A basketball action Friday night, 72-48.

The Eagles took a 19-8 lead over the Bearcats in the first quarter, and further distanced themselves in the second for a 33-18 lead at halftime. Henrietta improved on its scoring effort later in the game, but couldn’t bounce back against its opponent. Holliday outscored the Bearcats 19-11 in the third. Both teams scored 19 in the fourth.

Cole Burns led the Bearcats with 12 points, followed by Nick Powell with 10 points. Dalton Davidson and Myles Marchman scored eight points each. Philip Davis added fve, while Ben Fletcher and Kolten Booher scored two points each. Tommy Peevey added a free throw. Powell donated three assists, while Davis gave two.

Burns and Powell came away with six rebounds each, while Davidson and Marchman had three each. Booher led the team in steals with four.

Henrietta continues district play Tuesday night, traveling to Ponder. Game time is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. The Bearcats host Alvord Friday with an 8 p.m. start.
