A tractor-trailer drove over an overpass embankment on Hwy. 287 Friday night, blocking traffic on Hwy. 148 in Henrietta.
Cameron Sanders of Marietta, Okla., was northbound on Hwy. 287, when his truck veered into the center median and onto the highway below. The accident was reported at 11:13 p.m.
Sanders told accident investigators that he swerved to miss a car that had drifted into the left hand lanes. His truck wheels sunk into the soft shoulder and he was unable to get back on the pavement before approaching the bridge.
The truck crossed both northbound and southbound lanes of Hwy. 148, before coming to a rest on the opposite embankment.
The 2004 Peterbilt was pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with metal beams. The load was scattered across both lanes of Hwy. 148. Shortly after midnight Saturday, the northbound lane had been cleared, while the southbound lane remained closed.
Sanders suffered no serious injuries.
