Ernestine Vanwinkle of Petrolia

Ernestine Vanwinkle, 95, of Petrolia, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, in Petrolia.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 13, at the First United Methodist Church of Petrolia, with Rev. Al Easterling, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Petrolia Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mrs. Vanwinkle was born Aug. 26, 1916, in Henrietta to Ernesto L. and Margaret (Walburn) Laidler. She married James Ross Vanwinkle on Feb. 18, 1939, in Walters, Okla. She was retired from Texas New Mexico Power and Light Company where she worked as a secretary. Mrs. Vanwinkle was a member of the First Baptist Church of Petrolia, a member of the Eastern Star in Petrolia, Secretary Treasure of the Petrolia Cemetery Association and was a Clay County Pioneer Reunion Duchess in 1995.

She is preceded in death her husband James Ross Vanwinkle on May 21, 2002; six sisters; and two brothers.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Petrolia Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 445, Petrolia, Texas, 76377, or a charity of your choice.
