Ruby Faye Skaggs of Petrolia


Ruby Faye (Vice) Skaggs of Petrolia, died Dec. 31, 2011 in Temple.

A private service will take place the Central Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery in Killeen. Arrangements are under the direction of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Homes of Temple.

Ms. Skaggs was born on March 26, 1923 to E.B. and Molly Mae Dona (Sigman) Vice in Nocona. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, stationed in New York and Washington D.C. from 1943 through February 1946. She married Alvin H. Skaggs on Oct. 18, 1947, in Henrietta.  They spent most of their married life in Petrolia. She worked for the Equal Employment Commission and Lamar Outdoor Advertising in Wichita Falls. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Petrolia, and managed a singing group, The Rythmeers, performing at local events and nursing homes.

She is preceded in death by husband Alvin H. Skaggs, two brothers, two sisters, a nephew, a great niece and one great grandson.

Survivors include a son, Charles Skaggs and wife Becky; one sister, Vera Rucktashel; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
