Harold Wayne Ensey of Bowie


Harold Wayne Ensey, 82, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, in Bowie.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, in the Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery of Bowie under the direction if White Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Ensey was born April 16, 1929 in Foss, Okla., to John Garner and Opal Dell Stracener Ensey. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from Dec. 1950-Nov. 1952. He married Jennie Lou Tune on Jan. 11, 1953. He worked as a national bank examiner for several years before going on to work in various banks and credit unions throughout the state. He served as president of the Wichita Falls Teachers Federal Credit Union from 1977 until he retired in 1994. He had visited all 50 states and over 15 countries. He was a charter member of the Top O’ Lake Country Club in Bowie and won club champion on two occasions at age 50 and 70.

He is preceded in death by son Ken Ensey; daughter-in-law Renee Laird Ensey; and brother-in-law Joe Curry.

Survivors include his wife, Jennie Lou Tune Ensey of Bowie; daughters Karen King and husband Mickey of Bowie, and Kathy Tyson and husband Billy of Bellevue; a sister, Betty Ensey Curry of Bowie; a brother, Jerry Ensey and wife, Roffie of Conroe; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at White Family Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Rural Texas at 705 E. Greenwood Avenue Bowie, Texas 76230.
