Betty Aday of Byers


Betty Aday, 83, of Byers, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011 in Henrietta.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 16, at the First Baptist Church of Byers, with Rev. James Keenum officiating and Scot Clayton assisting. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Byers under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mrs. Aday was born on July 20, 1928 in Maude to Gladys and Balma (White) Varner. She married Lee Winslow Aday on Feb.19, 1949 in Byers. She was retired from the United States Postal Service where she worked for 38 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Byers, The Byers Women’s Club and the Rythmeers. Mrs. Aday was honored by respresenting Byers as a duchess on the 1998 Pioneer Queen float for the Clay County Pioneer Reunion and Rodeo.

She is preceded in death by husband Winslow in 2007; two sisters, Louise Summer and Gladys Wright; and one brother, Eugene Varner.

Survivors include two sons, Donnie Aday of Henrietta and David Aday of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Davis Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Byers Volunteer Fire Department at P.O. Box 95, Byers, Texas, 76357, Riverside Cemetery at P.O. Box 205, Byers, Texas 76357, and Hospice of Wichita Falls at P.O. Box 4804, Wichita Falls, Texas 76308.
