Frances Long of Bluegrove


Frances Long, 74, of Bluegrove passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 in Bluegrove.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m, Wednesday, Nov. 23, at the First Baptist Church of Henrietta, with Rev. Randy Osborn, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Bluegrove Cemetery in Bluegrove under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Mrs. Long was born on May 1, 1937 in Halsell, Texas to Carl E. and Sylvia Mae (Wiist) Grinke. She married Melvin Long on December 17, 1955 in Lawton, Okla. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Henrietta where she taught Ladies’ Bible Class. Mrs. Long also participated in the Bluegrove Quilting Club on Tuesday mornings.

Mrs. Long was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Ann Grinke.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin Long of Bluegrove; three daughters, Lu Ann Reaves of Alvarado, Charlotte Sutton of Bowie and Carol Jo Newton and husband Harold of Lake Arrowhead; one son, Melvin Breck Long and wife Cinda of Fort Smith, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 544, Henrietta, Texas 76365.

The family will be at Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, Nov. 22, from 7-8 p.m.
