Five men plead guilty to various crimes in the 97th district court Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Adam Douglas Hopson – Possession of a controlled substance in an amount of more than four grams, less than 200 grams, a second-degree felony, for a Jan. 17, 2010 offense. Hopson received five years deferred adjudication, a fine of $2,500 and must pay restitution of $140.
David Lyn Anderson – Manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance in an amount less than 400 grams, a special-degree felony with a penalty range of 15-99 years in prison, for a Jan. 6 offense. Anderson was given a 25-year sentence, fined $500 and must pay restitution in the amount of $140. Anderson was credited with 30 days served.
Everett Lamar Murphy, Jr. – Obstruction or retaliation, a third-degree felony, for a Dec. 14 offense. Murphy was given two year deferred adjudication.
Kevin Lee Benson – Aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree felony, for a May 1, 2008 offense. Benson was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was credited with 320 days served. The crime was committed against a child, age 5. Benson will be required to register as a sex offender.
Matthew Scott Sanders – Unauthorized use of a vehicle, a state jail felony, for a Dec. 31, 2005 offense. Sanders was sentenced to one year in state jail, and was credited with 417 days served.
