Byers Women discuss projects

Byers Women’s club held their monthly meeting at noon Tuesday, Nov. 8 in the Byers Community Building. After the pledge to the flag and a prayer led by Chaplain Nell Schaffner, members enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving dinner prepared by members and served by refreshment committee Toni Fransen, Wanda Jean Elrod and Pat Lawrence.
The meeting was called to order by president Tena Van Deventer. Secretary Kathy Westmoreland called roll and read the minutes of the October meeting, and treasurer Ava Lou Holmes gave the financial report.
Business included a donation to Hospice in memory of Virginia Brumbelow, a donation to Hospice for lights for the Christmas tree, and a donation to Byers Improvement Group for Christmas decorations for downtown Byers.
Plans to continue to update the club’s scrapbooks for the 30-plus years the club has been in existence were also discussed.
The next meeting will be a salad luncheon on Tuesday, Dec. 13. Members will bring baby gifts to be donated to the Pregnancy Help Center in Wichita Falls.
Those present in addition to Schaffner, Fransen, Elrod, Lawrence, Van Deventer, Westmoreland, and Holmes were Jonnie Barnhill, Carol Hale, Janice Jones, Allene Schaffner, and Judy Wade, reporter.
