‘Cats, Lady Cats sixth at district 9-AA meet


Henrietta's Joyana Zamzow and Mahalah Womack compete in the District 9-AA Cross Country Meet in Wichita Falls Monday.

Henrietta runners faced stiff competition in the District 9-AA Cross Country Meet Monday at University Kiwanis Park in Wichita Falls.

Alvord won the varsity girls title, and with it a team trip to the region II meet in Arlington’s Vandergriff Park, placing five runners in the top seven.

Krum took the boys title with its lead runner placing third in the individual standings and two others in the top 10.

Henrietta’s varsity girls finished sixth in the team standings.

Joyana Zamzow led the team through the two-mile course, placing 23rd with a time of 15:22. Mahalah Womack finished 24th with 15:23, followed by Sarah Matthews in 36th with 17:02, Sara Mayes in 37th with 17:23 and Brooke Hoff in 38th place with a time of 17:24.

The varsity Bearcats finished sixth in the team standings.

Ethan Crowley led Henrietta through the three-mile race, finishing 26th with a time of 20:53, followed by Donovan Cook in 33rd with 22:15, Chris Davis in 38th with 28:29, Skee Burkes in 39th with 28:39 and Daniel Sheldon in 40th with a time of 31:39.

In the junior varsity girls division, Monica Dugan finished the two-mile course in 16th place with a time of 21:01, followed by Morgan Peterson in 17th with 21:04.

In the junior high girls two-mile race, Kristina Aylor finished 22nd with a time of 16:19, followed by Angel Ford in 48th with 20:51, Madeline Koetter in 49th with 20:57 and Mikayla Collins in 55th with 22:25.

Junior high runner Coy Patterson had Henrietta’s best placing of the day, finishing the boys two-mile course in seventh with a time of 13:16. Justin Koetter followed in 26th with 14:58. Triston Rodgers took 45th with 17:27 and Zack Sowers finished 52nd with a time of 19:06.
