Charlene Tanner, 77, of Wichita Falls, formally of Clay County, died Tuesday, Oct., 2011 in Wichita Falls.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, in the Shannon Cemetery in Shannon, with Rev. Joe Ainsworth, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Bluegrove, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta.

Mrs. Tanner was born Dec. 3, 1933 in Clay County to H.M. “Bud” and Vera Annie (Whitsitt) Noe. She married Charles Hickman Tanner on Sept. 30, 1951 in Shannon. She worked in sales at McClurkins in Wichita Falls and was the manager of Edison Jewelry until it closed. Mrs. Tanner was a homemaker and an avid gardener.

She was preceded in death by her father Bud Noe on Sept. 16, 2000, mother, Vera Noe on May 23, 1990 and her husband Charles Tanner on Dec. 27, 1967.

Survivors include two daughters, Carla Haberman and husband Joel of Wichita Falls, and Connie Tanner of Wichita Falls; one son, Charles “Mike” Tanner and wife Donna of Shannon; one sister, Alice Armstrong and husband Jackie of Deer Creek; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
