
No injuries were reported when a truck jackknifed due to wet driving conditions on Hwy. 287 in Henrietta Saturday.
While most in Clay County were thankful for a good soaking rain Saturday, two Arizona men were not too happy.
At about 5:22 p.m., Aldo Salvent and Pedro Umana-Segundo were northbound on Hwy. 287, approaching the Hwy. 82 overpass, in Henrietta, when their 2000 model Freightliner jackknifed after hitting a wet spot in the road. Salvent, who was driving at the time, managed to steer clear of a car in the left lane and the truck slid to a stop in the right median.
Umana-Segundo was in the truck’s sleeper. there were no injuries.
Other incidents included a small electrical fire reported on FM 2332 near Byers, caused by a power line that came down during the rain.
The rain moved into the area at about 2 p.m. By 11 p.m., it had dumped more than 3.25 inches of rain in Henrietta and was expected to continue into Sunday.
