Lady Cats, Falcons earn meet titles

Mahala Womack of Henrietta nears the finish line in the varsity girls division of the Bearcat Cross Country Meet Saturday.

Henrietta hosted a small but competitive cross country meet Saturday at Kiwanis Park. The Lady Cats took first place in the varsity team standings, while Midway clinched the varsity boys’

title.

Lady Cat Joyana Zamzow led the field on the 2.48-mile girls course, taking first place with a time of 16 minutes, 32 seconds. Second place was earned by Kaylee Kenyon with a time of 16:45; third, Mahala Womack, Henrietta, 17:52; fourth, Kelli Forester, Midway, 18:01; fifth, Sarah Matthews, Henrietta, 18:27; sixth, Sara Mayes, Henrietta, 18:46; seventh, Brooke Hoff, Henrietta, 18:55; eighth, Dickinson, Petrolia, 23:06; and ninth, Michaela Hedrick of Henrietta with a time of 25:06.

Keaton Merkel of Midway took first place in the varsity boys race. Merkel finished the 3.48-mile course in 21 minutes, 2 seconds. In second place was Donovan Cook of Henrietta with a time of 21:12; third, Logan Harper, Midway, 22:05; fourth, Ethan Crowley, Henrietta, 22:06; fifth, Ben Forester, Midway, 23:32; sixth, Mark Nall, Midway, 23:51; seventh, Brody Wilson, Midway, 25:37; eighth, Chris Davis, Henrietta, 25:54; ninth, Brandon Cannon, Midway, 26:31; 10th, Skee Burkes, Henrietta, 28:04; 11th, Levi Hendrick, Henrietta, 30:45; 12th, Daniel Sheldon, Henrietta, 32:18.

Competing in the junior varsity girls category, Anne Bristow of Prairie Valley took first place with a time of 17 minutes, 55 seconds. Alley Roof of Prairie Valley took second place with 17:56.

Henrietta’s teams aearned the boys and girls junior high championships.

In the junior high girls division, first place went to Kristina Aylor of Henrietta with a time of 17 minutes, 21 seconds; second, Madeline Koetter, Henrietta, 19:48; and in third, Mikayla Collins of Henrietta with a time of 21:34.

Tyler Mathews of Petrolia placed first in the junior high boys race with a time of 15 minutes, 11 seconds; followed in second by Coy Patterson, Henrietta, 15:20; third, Justin Koetter, Henrietta, 16:18; fourth, Dellen Koetter, Henrietta, 19:29; fifth, Zack Sowers, Henrietta, 18:12; sixth, Triston Rodgers, Henrietta, 19:36; and in seventh, Midway with a time of 21:19.
