Oscar Kafer of Hurnville


Oscar Kafer of the Hurnville Community passed away on Monday, Sept. 26 in Henrietta.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Henrietta with Rev. Doug Gaskey, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Henrietta under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta.

Mr. Kafer was born on July 16, 1927 in Hurnville to John and Annie Freida (Janke) Kafer. He married Dorothy King on July 27, 1948 in Byers. Mr. Kafer was a retired construction contractor and worked his whole life as a farmer and rancher. He was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church in Henrietta and served as a past vice-president of the Clay County Pioneer Association. He and his family received the Texas Century Ranch award through the Texas Family Land Heritage Program, which honors farms that have had a continuous operation for 100 years by the same family.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy Kafer of Hurnville; one daughter, Barbara Kafer of Burkburnet; two sons, Sonny Kafer and wife Cindy of Wichita Falls and Floyd Kafer and wife Christy of Hurnville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Alvin Kafer of Wichita Falls.

The family will be at Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7-8 p.m.
