Ronald E. McGhee, 85, of Cary, N.C., formerly of Henrietta, passed away on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 in Cary.

 Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 23, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Henrietta, with Father Richard Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Saint Michael’s Cemetery south of Henrietta, under the direction of Davis Funeral Home. A Christian Wake will be Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Henrietta.

Mr. McGhee was born on July 23, 1926 in Marietta, Ohio, to Dwight “Gene” and Nellie Marie (Craig) McGhee. He married Ruby Hilbers on Sept. 23, 1966 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Mr. McGhee served in the U.S. Navy and the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was retired from the Civil Service where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. He was an active member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Henrietta, where he served as lay minister and helped with the training of the altar boys. Mr. McGhee was a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 25 years.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty McGhee.

Survivors include his wife Ruby of Cary, N.C.; three daughters, Pam Letts of Cary, N.C., Rhonda McGhee of Leland, N.C., and Robin Young of Wilmington, N.C.; two sons, Ronnie McGhee and Poncho McGhee, both of Conneaut, Ohio; one brother, Harry McGhee of Henrietta; one sister, Shirley Tryon of Bradenton, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Henrietta, Texas at 105 S. Barrett, Henrietta, Texas 76365.
